Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (beginning of the end) Today we started working on a new notion by studying a picture. It was a black and white drawing, with mountains in the background and sea in the foreground. On a beach, there were palm trees everywhere. It looked like a secret island with no civilization. Then we noticed a man with a beard and a hat. He had weapons (a rifle and a spear). We could also see he had his foot on a black man's head, lying on the ground. Drawing A Parallel between Rocky IV and the Evil Empire Speech Today we kept on (keep on= continuer ) working on the training montage in Rocky IV. We had said that  Rocky's training has a meaning : he trains in Nature, and cuts trees to build a fire. He helps people too. He reconnects with his American roots : he becomes Great Again (R. Reagan's slogan). We also had said  Drago becomes a machine during his training. He is described as a dehumanized machine, cold and devoid of emotions ( dénué d'émotions ).  We also noticed that Apollo could be the  symbol for a weak, declining America. The Training Montage is an illustration of the Evil Empire Speech: the USSR is a "totalitarian darkness," and "quiet with white collars" organize and supervise the training.
